The CEO Dojo was born out of my experience as a CEO coach, martial artist, and entrepreneur. Along this journey, I recognized three critical factors for breakthrough growth:
First, you cannot truly see yourself. We all need teachers to help us achieve our full potential. And the higher you get in any field, the universe of individuals who can see the nuances that will lead to your next breakthrough shrinks dramatically.

For all growth, an intentional training environment is essential. Through my work coaching CEO’s and my own journey as a martial artist I discovered growth came from a guide who could truly see you, a dedicated space to train your leadership, and a community that shows you you aren’t alone and don’t always have to be ON. Like the mat in dojo, CEOs need a dedicated, sacred space away from the office to train. To embrace the beginner’s mind and seek new ways of being. Third, community comes from commitment, not commonality. The true community of a dojo comes from shared commitment, even when students range from beginners to black belts. Industry peer groups may be useful sources of information, but are rarely potent containers for transformation.
